Magical Sky

Happy weekend!

We had our first thunderstorm of the season and it wasn't a huge storm, but the sky was so magical when it was over.

I love the sky for everything it offers. The Moon, the clouds, the stars and of course the occasional rainbow. Looking up is a connection to a world we are unable to touch but a world that offers an abundance of wonder. Every day there is a reason to admire the sky, where ever you may be.

I never risk going outside while a storm is in full force. The storm brought heavy rain and the sun appeared half way...I knew a rainbow was going to happen. And it did... I missed the photo moment. But after the storm, I went outside immediately and took many photos. Good thing I put new batteries in my camera!! The sun was preparing to set and the reflection of light was amazing. And, the rainbow appeared again! How lucky was I!? I'm not even sure if that ever happens...

A perfect, magical moment was given...my camera, breathtaking sky, the Moon and the wind still blowing.

Recent Art

 Hi there!!

I have been very busy with my candle company, Happy Crow Candles, which includes my paintings. Recently I have created three more Animal Totem candles, butterfly, ladybug and hummingbird. I either use previous paintings or in this case, created two new paintings.

My subjects are from my photography, which is wonderful or I use an art reference site that lets you buy the images. Then I create an 8"x10" painting that can also go on to Fine Art America, a site for artist and photographers. This site also lets you sell your art/photography on apparel, mugs, etc. Very cool!!

The fragrances I use have to relate to the totem, example: Hummingbird - Flower Garden. It is a great connection for me to make a candle that combines the magic of animals. The power of scent is strong and helps us in so many ways.

Wildlife

 Hello!

Let me start by saying "Where did Winter go?". There were a couple storms this past season, nothing to put in the history books. We did have a few weeks with cold temperatures and the beautiful snow decorated the ground. But it seemed to be gone as fast as it got here. I am not complaining... I guess I just wanted more days to wear my big heavy sweaters.

So Spring is this weekend and the birds are surely acting like it. There are the calls from the male birds and plenty of chasing goin on. The Spring birds are starting to arrive including the Turkey Vultures.

I have an outdoor camera to catch awesome photos of the birds and any wildlife that comes around to visit. The photos I have gotten will make perfect references for future paintings. I have no shortage of Blue Jay or Chickadee photos.

We did have a larger visitor a few nights ago(camera date is wrong on photos :)). There were 2 or more Raccoons finishing up any bird seed left over. The photos are black and white but the raccoons were adorable!

Happy Spring to you and yours (if you are in the Northern Hemisphere)!!

Fox Visit

Hello!

The winter season is officially here in Maine. The ground is fully covered with snow and wildlife tracks are everywhere.

The advantage to having a large backyard that meets the forest is the occasional visitor. One morning I came up from my studio and sitting just beyond the forest was a beautiful Fox. What a gift!

It is rare to see a Fox out in broad daylight but they hunt during the day more when the ground is frozen. This lucky Fox was able to find some lunch, probably a Vole.

During the visit, I was able to get a lot of great photos to use for reference, so another painting is added to my list.

Hope you are well! Thank you for stopping by...

Quiet Morning with Crows

 Hello,

The new year is here... I hope you were able to enjoy the Holidays.

The world has not let up on making history. During these trying times, I have watched Nature more closely. The birds in the early morning have been entertaining and educational.

Recently, there has been a family of Crows that arrive just after sunrise. They enjoy the corn, seeds and an occasional cereal treat. I have learned more about the personality that Crows have towards each other and other animals. Sometimes humorous!

They stay long enough to fill their needs then move onto the next yard. You can tell there is a strong bond within this family. Where one goes. the rest follow!
